McMahon was retained to assist GATRA in reviewing the City of Attleboro’s Urban Renewal Plan and making recommendations regarding design and construction of the planned Attleboro Intermodal Transportation Center (AITC), as well as reconstruction of the current downtown train station and bus facility. Designed to accommodate berthing of a dozen buses, the AITC was the centerpiece of a $60 million downtown revitalization project, and a key element for the regional transit system. As part of the work, McMahon was a prime participant in a two-day interagency charrette conducted to facilitate design of the intermodal center. For this project, McMahon also worked closely with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, which operates commuter rail service in Attleboro and owns the site upon which the intermodal center was constructed.
