McMahon was retained by a contractor to conduct topographic survey and to prepare curb ramp designs at approximately 23 intersections along S.R. 3069 in Dormont and the City of Pittsburgh. The project included 100 ADA curb ramp designs. In addition to construction drawings, McMahon prepared Technically Infeasible Forms, when necessary, and worked with PennDOT District 11-0’s ADA Committee , as well as city staff members.
This project was recognized with the ASHE Pittsburgh Section’s 2012 Outstanding Highway Engineering Award. Upon completion of the project, the evaluation comments from PennDOT District 11-0 stated the following: “The designs were the best prepared and executed designs the ADA Committee had ever seen. The designs were very thorough and complete. McMahon worked in concert with the ADA Committee, the City of Pittsburgh, and the project inspector-in-charge.”
