McMahon was retained by the City of Westfield to design intersection and roadway improvements on Union Street at the intersection of Springdale Road and Papermill Road and prepare construction plans and contract documents for bidding.

The project design consisted of roadway realignment, traffic signal installation, roadway widening, drainage improvements, site access improvements for abutters, retaining wall design, pavement resurfacing, and landscape enhancements.

The project was subject to the MA Wetlands Protection Act and Westfield Wetlands Protection Ordinance as it is situated between two brooks and adjacent to a groundwater well. An Order of Conditions was obtained from the local Conservation Commission for the roadway construction, including widening and drainage modifications within the wetland resource areas.
