McMahon redesigned Lake Avenue between Southern Boulevard and Belvedere Road to accommodate one-way, separated bicycle lanes. Efforts included agency coordination and public outreach with the neighbors to transform the expanse pavement along this corridor to provide protection for bicycle riders, including school children of Conniston Middle School and Belvedere Elementary School. On-street parking was also provided at key locations along the corridor, and a floating bus stop was integrated into the design. A . A “pop-up” phase was initiated by the City to acclimate the users to the new design conditions, using only pavement markings and vertical delineators.
