McMahon has assisted MassDOT Districts 1, 2, & 3 in addressing the high incidence of fatal and serious injury crashes in the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) eligible High Risk Rural Roads to reduce rural fatality rates, as MassDOT has received notification from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) that it has met the High Risk Rural Road Special Rule.

 

Several of the tasks included performing spot Road Safety Assessments (RSA), developing systemic low-cost HRRRP projects, and site-specific improvements at HRRRP-eligible locations. McMahon will also assist MassDOT with public outreach in order to get buy-in from abutters and residents to the proposed improvements.
