Implementation plan
McMahon led development of a coordinated transportation and land use plan for the four-mile stretch of Route 30 through East Whiteland Township.
Working with the township’s Route 30 Committee, transportation agencies, and the community, McMahon evaluated alternatives and developed a conceptual plan for Route 30 that includes continuous and connected sidewalks, bicycle lanes, streetscape enhancements, and bus stop improvements to make the corridor more dynamic and pedestrian friendly. In addition, McMahon evaluated potential locations for a new regional rail train station along the corridor and identified ways the township can prepare for emerging mobility revolutions related to connected, automated, electric, and shared vehicles.
From a land use perspective, the plan includes recommendations for rezoning to develop two mixed use centers and design guidelines to provide a more consistent and attractive streetscape along the corridor. The plan provides a blueprint for how the Township’s vision for Route 30 can be implemented over time through both capital improvements and policies.
