McMahon was retained by the Town of Holliston to develop intersection and roadway improvements for three unsignalized intersections along the Washington Street (Route 16) corridor in downtown Holliston. Existing count data has been collected and traffic signal warrant analyses conducted for the three study area intersections based upon the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) criteria.
Two roadway improvement concepts were developed. The concepts focus on improving vehicle traffic operations, increasing pedestrian safety, and balancing the use of roadway space among its users, including motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and parking demand.
After the Town selected a preferred alternative, McMahon completed the development of construction plans and facilitated construction bidding. The project was constructed in 2018.
Throughout the project, McMahon conducted a public outreach process, which included progress meetings with town officials and presentations to the board of selectmen, the planning board, and at town meetings.
